Red Door Consignment Company, at around 7500 square feet, is one the largest consignment retailers in Georgia. But with over 9000 consignors (and adding 10-15 per week), we need the space! Our beginnings, though, were far more humble.
Founded in 2002, Star Light Star Bright began as an experiment. One day, while shopping for her only grandchild, Susan DeVos visited a consignment shop in Peachtree City. She was immediately blown away by some of the value that she received. However, the consistency of quality and the overall thrift store-feel were spotty at best. So Susan thought, "Wouldn't it be great to get this type of value, but with a department store feel?" And that is how the idea for Star Light Star Bright was born. Over the next few years, the store became a hit. Using the core values of unbeatable value and quality, boutique atmosphere and user friendly consignment policies, Star Light Star Bright eventually got too big for it's britches and expanded into the building that formerly housed Shadow's Restaurant in 2004. Thus, Chain Reaction was born. Mixing the same value and quality showcased at Star Light Star Bright, but with an edgier modern decor, Chain Reaction became a hit with the young adult set.
Star Light Star Bright and Chain Reaction enjoyed such success that after only 3 years another expansion was needed. This time the stores recombined to form Red Door Consignment in a new Tyrone location in 2007. Boasting 5000 square feet, Red Door consignment enjoyed immediate success and incredible growth, adding 6200 consignors and another 2500 square feet of space in the next two years.
We now proudly boast 7500 square feet of incredible quality and value under one roof (or behind one Red Door). Our constant growth and success can only be attributed to the loyal customers and team members who have witnessed our successes and growing pains over the last eight years, and have contributed in spreading our culture throughout the community. With the same three core principles of value and quality, upscale atmosphere and user friendly-policies, Red Door Consignment continues to strive to be the most respected consignment shop in Georgia.
