A quick look at consigning

A quick run-down on our consignment process and essential information

Bringing in Consignment

1. We accept consignment Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, except for the last week of each month and around holidays. Our website's Updates page is the best place to look for our holiday hours and our no-consignment dates.

2. All items must be ready to go out on the floor and be brought in a sturdy container, such as a laundry basket or Rubbermaid bin. We can not look through items in a bag.

3. We are seasonal, so please go to our Current Season page for a breakdown on what we are currently accepting. We accept toys and home items year-round, unless they are seasonal decor like Fall, Christmas, Halloween, etc. If you have large furniture items, send us an email with your pictures to the following email:

Email@reddoorconsignments.com

4. When you arrive, you will leave your items in your vehicle and check in at the consignment counter (the big U-shaped counter). They will give you paperwork to keep your place in line while you look around the store. Please give yourself at least 30-45 minutes to wait, because you must remain in the store during the entire consignment process. However, some wait times may be longer, especially during the first week of a new season.

5. Our team will call out your name in-store when it is time to bring your items inside and to the counter. They will process your items, layer them, and label them for any reason they could not accept them, such as different seasons, current consignment holds, slight spots, and items we do not accept in general.

6. You will be given paperwork with a receipt of the items we accepted every time you drop off consignment, with dates and what to do if you wish to have your items returned to you at the end of your consignment period.

7. Sit back, let us do the rest of the work, and collect money for your exceptional items.

Key consignor info.

  1. You will need at least 10 acceptable items to start an account and a valid driver’s license. Your account will begin with a negative balance of $10.00. As long as your account stays active, this is a one-time account set-up fee. If your account is inactive for 2 years or more, your account & records will be deleted, and you will need to start a new account to consign again.

  2. Red Door Consignment sets all prices. The best way to get an idea of pricing is to take a look around the store at items similar to your own. If you have an expensive item or large furniture items you would like a price quote for, please email the store for assistance at email@reddoorconsignments.com.

  3. All items are on the floor for 30 days at full price and 30 days at 50% off and higher. The month you drop off is free time on the floor. Your 60-day period will begin on the first of the following month, ensuring every consignor gets the whole 60-day consignment period.

  4. Consignors will receive the following percentage of the selling price minus an item fee (the item fee is added on top of the ticket price).

  • $0.00 - $9.99                                       45% to consignor

  • $10.00 - $49.99                                   46% to consignor

  • $50.00 - $99.99                                   47% to consignor

  • $100.00 - $199.99                               50% to consignor

  • $200.00 and up                                    60% to consignor

5. You can pick up your balance, use store credit, or both at the same time, any time we are open (On Dollar Day Sale dates, checks may only be picked up after 2 pm- it’s just too crazy to handle anything else).
